1. What’s in the gel?
It is the same solution that is provided by your Dentist. Our supplier manufactures this product for Dental Distributors. It’s a solution of Glycerin (preservative) and Carbamide Peroxide. Glycerin is the ingredient, which helps keep the Carbamide active for an extended period of time.

2. Will it hurt my teeth?
It will not hurt your teeth. Carbamide Peroxide penetrates the pores of your teeth and removes the stains that have been accumulated over the years. Whitening has been available for over a hundred years; and has been proven to be completely safe and effective.

3. I’ve heard that it causes a lot of sensitivity?
The process can cause some sensitivity. Usually it will dissipate in a day or two. If you already have sensitive teeth, we suggest using Sensodyne toothpaste. The fluoride and potassium nitrate will help eliminate the sensitivity by clogging the pores. It does slow down the process slightly, but you will still get great results. However, the way we teach you to use the system, eliminates a lot of problems associated with sensitivity. We allow your teeth to adapt to the Glycerin (which causes the sensitivity) and still maximize your results.

4. What is Glycerin?
Glycerin is a preservative that helps keep the Carbamide Peroxide active for a longer period of time. This allows the product to have an extended shelf life. Glycerin is used in many products including, various brands of toothpaste, lotion and deodorant. It does cause dryness as it removes some of the moisture in your teeth, which can cause initial minor sensitivity.

5. Will it lighten my crown, bridges, or fillings?
It will not lighten any crowns, bridges or fillings. Only real teeth surfaces.

6. How is this better than the whitening kits you buy in the shops?
The store kits have what they call “Boil and Bite” trays. What this means, is that you boil them and then put them in your mouth and bite down hard to have them form to your teeth. This procedure is very ineffective, because you can’t have the tray hot enough for it to really form correctly to your teeth without burning your mouth. Non-moldable tray whitening is another system that you can buy over the counter, this is a very uncomfortable procedure because you have a sports mouth guard type tray in your mouth for 15 to 30 minutes, twice a day, and it is very difficult to keep the gel from your gums. You can’t talk, your saliva dilutes the system and the air kills off the Peroxide. It gives you an upset stomach and a sore throat if you swallow the solution, which is very difficult to avoid.

7. What about laser whitening or power whitening?

8. What about white spots on my teeth?
Our product is great for that as it whitens of the rest of your teeth to match more closely. You will see a more even colour between the white spots and your teeth. Those spots could have been caused by flourosis (fluoride staining), decalcification (break down of the teeth, on the verge of a cavity) or some sort of trauma to your teeth as a child (a fever or a blow to the mouth).

9. What about brown spots on my teeth?
Do the brown spots cause you any discomfort? If they do you’ll want to visit your dentist. If they don’t hurt they are probably some other type of stain. This product will most likely lighten those types of brown spots.

10. What about the discoloration of a root canal?
Unfortunately, it won’t lighten that. There are few things you can do for that. Some options might include internal bleaching, a veneer or a crown.

11. Will my dental insurance cover this?
Your dental insurance won’t cover this because it is a cosmetic procedure. No cosmetic whitening procedure would be covered by your insurance.

12. What if I’ve got a tooth or teeth that are painful?
Go get it checked out by your local Dentist before whitening to make sure it is safe.

13. What if I’m in the middle of a root canal?
Wait till you’re done.

14. What if I have a temporary on for a permanent crown?
Wait till you’re done. The substance used when taking an impression will pop your temporary off.

15. I heard this procedure would eat my teeth.
It won’t eat your teeth. People who abuse the system might develop sensitivity to their teeth, but this will subside. Wearing it for 24 to 48 consecutive hours could cause sensitivity.

16. Can my daughter or son do it?
They need to be at least 16 years of age and have parental consent to do so. Their teeth haven’t completely moved down yet. It’s better to wait until they are at least 16.

17. Why are you able to do this at such a low price?
We produce everything in house, we have our own state of the art laboratory, which creates everything you require to have a Hollywood Smile, this cuts out overheads and we can pass the savings on to you. This has opened the door to a larger group of consumers who in the past may not have been able to afford this service. All personnel have undergone the Hollywood Smiles training program and will guide you on taking an impression of your teeth.

18. Is it a permanent process?
It is a permanent process as long as you don’t drink coffee or tea or you don’t smoke. If you do, it does require a touch up about every 4-6 months. Wearing your trays once every two to three weeks is considered good maintenance. If you require more whitening gel you can come back to our clinic and purchase more there is no need to have the complete process carried out again.

19. How long does it take to create my plastic custom fit trays?
We only need you in store for about 30 minutes, in order to have a consultation and your impressions taken. We can then have your plastic trays and the complete system ready for you within around 4-7 days.
